TTA SC130 Firefly

Built shortly after the Proxima Wars as the SC128, the Firefly was originally equipped with four McKinley ion drives for transporting materials to destinations within the solar system. Proving to be a robust workhorse craft capable of landing on surfaces and having two landing ramps either side of the ship for the loading and unloading of cargoes, the SC128 was adapted to the current version (SC130). Adding a warp generator and replacing the ion drives with two more powerful plasma drives, this type of craft can be seen in many parts of the Federation ferrying cargo and materials. The ship is a very simple design, basically a flight deck and crew accomodation area stuck on the front of the main body of the ship and the engine and fuel tanks on the back. MechTech robot units provide payload movement capabilities along with the 22 crew.

This craft can be seen in numerous numbers in the Menkalinan system ferrying materials between various mining outposts, the image above depicts a SC130 leaving the orbit of the double star system Petersen 3, destined for Terra. Large numbers of the SC130 are used in the Menkalinan system due to their low running costs and durability and provide 'to the door' delivery capabilities of cargo in a variety of terrains. A number of these ships were lost however when the pirate problem emerged from the Capella system and these ships have to be escorted by TDA ships as they are normally unarmed.
